Un-Stampede Events 2020

This month is always a busy one in Calgary. Even though things look a bit different this year, we don’t expect July 2020 to be any different!

Normally today the City of Calgary would already be in full Stampede mode – Sneak-a-Peek last night, the annual Stampede parade early this morning, and the rodeo starting this afternoon. Even though the show has been cancelled this year, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate and get your un-Stampede on. Grab your hat & boots and be sure to check out all the safe and family-friendly events around the city over the next 10 days.

Tonight, July 3rd as well as on Sunday, July 12th there will be fireworks! They will be bigger and higher than normal this year so that they can be enjoyed from all around the city – if you can see the downtown skyline then you should be able to see the fireworks. Both shows will also be broadcast live on CTV News Calgary and streamed live via their website.

Who loves Mini-Donuts? They are a staple of the Stampede midway and yes, you can still get them this year! You have to purchase tickets ahead of time to “drive-thru” Stampede Park to pick them up. With your purchase you will also receive 2 free-admission tickets to Sneak-a-Peek 2021! Check out the available dates and times to get your sugar fix here.

Speaking of midway food, you can still get all your favourites this year at the Stampede Food Truck Rally. They will be at various locations throughout the city until July 12. Check out the schedule and locations so you don’t have to wait until next summer!

If you are looking for some activities to do without the kids we have a few ideas as well. The sun should come out now that June is over with so why not book the sitter and enjoy an afternoon or evening on one of Calgary’s best rooftop patios?

Craft Beer Market downtown on 10 Avenue SW has a huge, brand new rooftop patio where you can enjoy the sun, their delicious menu, over 100 draft beers, and some insane views of our city’s downtown core.

If you are in the SE part of the city then Brewster’s in McKenzie Town is the place to be. Enjoy cozy couches, high and low tables, and Adirondacks for maximum relaxation in the sun or the shade and enjoy some yummy eats and summer cocktails.

Rooftop Bar @ the Simmons is open! This adults-only patio is located in the East Village on Confluence Way and has been voted one of the best rooftop patios in the city. Enjoy pizza, drinks and good vibes all while taking in the panoramic view of the the Bow River and downtown skyline.

Happy un-Stampeding Calgary!
