Calgary Market Statistics – June 2020

Even though June finished trending upward from May, most numbers are still below last year’s levels. Sales in June totalled 1,747 across all property types, up from only 1,079 in May, but still down 1.58% from 2019.⁣

Inventory also remains quite low compared to last year’s levels, but we did see over 3,300 new listings come to market in June. Benchmark prices stayed relatively the same as last month at $411,300, but is still down from 2019’s $423,100. ⁣

June’s bump in activity was most likely attributed to competitive mortgage rates, as well as the re-opening and easing of restrictions in Alberta. Predictions are that high unemployment rates will continue to have a negative effect for months to come. Unfortunately the true impact of COVID-19 will most likely not be known until later this year when the mortgage payment deferral program expires. ⁣
